The conference will be held at the Scheltema conference venue in downtown Leiden, within easy walking distance of several hotels.
Construction around Scheltema venue:
Unfortunately construction will start on Monday June 27th on the Oude Singel, the road next to the Scheltema venue. Although we do not know for sure if the road will be fully closed to pedestrians, we recommend to enter Marktsteeg from the Langegracht, see map:
Travel to Leiden:
From Amsterdam Airport (Schiphol) it takes about 20 minutes by train to get to Leiden Central. You can buy a disposable OV-chip card at the ticket machines at Schiphol which you can pre-charge to travel. You can use this card for any public transport in the Netherlands. However, if you plan to travel only from Schiphol to Leiden and back for the conference, it is easier to buy your ticket online and keep it on your phone. You’ll need to scan the bar code of the ticket to get out through the gates of Leiden Central. Buy online tickets here.
Airport information:
Schiphol is currently suffering from staff shortages, which causes long delays at both check-in and security. It is currently recommended to arrive at least 3 hours before your flight departs, even for European flights, so keep this in mind for your departure. Arrival times are less affected.
COVID information:
There are currently no COVID restrictions in the Netherlands and we follow the government regulations for our conference. However, we ask participants to do a self-test if they develop COVID symptoms during the conference and stay in the hotel when testing positive. Self-tests can be bought at any pharmacy (e.g. Kruidvat or Etos). As of June 12th, a negative COVID test is no longer required to enter the USA (more information) but if you do need a test for your country, an appointment can be made here.
